Real Rap
by Lil Wayne
album The Leak V
Lil Wayne - Real Rap (alternate version of “Amen” from Lil Weezyana Vol. 1)
The original version was released in June 2007. Not sure which version came first but this was definitely recorded during the Dedication 2 era (Summer ‘06) when Katrina was on his mind.
Wayne shouts out his grandmother by name, Mercedes Carter, and his grandfather Larry Balsop (sp?) discusses his relationship with his real father Dwayne Carter, something he rarely does in public.
And I know that my real pops had money
No bank account that brown paper bag money
Yea he might hit me off with a little brag money
But that nigga still wouldn’t be a dad for me
But look how I turned out I hope he glad for me
But that’s why when I see him I acts mad funny
Cause he a joke to me
Don’t message, don’t call
Don’t talk to me
It’s just me and my momma
How it suppose to be
And I make sure she paid like she wrote for me
And I know she gets all hope from me
This song’s a good reflection of the transitional period between Tha Carter 2 & Tha Carter 3.
