DJ Screw MegaMix Part One

The first in a series of DJ Screw mixes that I’m creating from the thousands of Screw songs I have in my iTunes (and on cassette and CD).

Volume 1 is heavy on Above the Law, one of my all time favorite rap groups. Their album Uncle Sam’s Curse is a bonafied West Coast hip hop classic on par with Dr Dre’s Chronic (if not better). Also in the mix little known Texas crew Street Military goes HARD with “Dead in a Year.” Sillk the Shocker, Master P’s brother, makes an appearance with the depressing “If I Don’t Gotta.” The mix finishes up with Big Mello’s “So Much Love.” Mello passed away at the height of his career and left a body of work that is painfully honest and beautiful. This is his best track, IMO.
