Exclusive interview about Splatter Sisters, Marilyn Manson, Evan Rachel Wood, Skinemax Cinema & Samurai
-Is Splatter Sisters film still on or has it been cancelled because of the break up of Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood last year? (If the film is still on, how are you going to reorganize this?)
It’s on and always has been. There’s no reorganization necessary since nothing became unorganized at any point. Everyone involved are professionals and we don’t let our personal lives affect our business.
- You described Splatter Sisters as as a sexploitation-serial- killer-slasher-road movie. How are you going to mix all those cinematic genres?
Just organically, some genres are in the writing some in the characters, some in the music, some in the mis-en-scen it’s all just thrown into a blender.
-With splatter Sisters you’re inaugurating a new horror sub-genre that you called Skinemax. What it is made of?
It’s not a horror sub-genre per se it’s more like a movement towards capturing the look and feel of ‘Skinemax’ films of my childhood, disposable late night cable fare with ample T&A, gratuitous violence and that feeling you got staying up with your friends and waiting for this crazy movie you read about in the TV Guide and don’t even care what it’s about, you only care that its title is “Hollywood Hot Tub 3” and it says NUDITY.
-How did the plot of Splatter Sisters develop?
It developed out of a writing session with Sebastian Demian (Lee Scratch Perry and Lil B’s manager) at the ranch he was living in back almost 5 years ago. The ranch had no lights and no furniture and was infested by spiders and they recorded music in there. I stopped in there on my way to LA from San Francisco and got stuck there for 13 days and we wrote the plot/treatment for the film then. I went back to NYC and spent the better part of 3 years writing the script based off that treatment.
-You also said that two beautiful girls are under mind control by Lars, the leader of a death metal band. One can easily understand why the choice of Marilyn Manson to play Lars’ character is such a perfect match on several levels, are there big differences between the two? And was that role written for Marilyn Manson or just strongly inspired by him and what lies behind?
There’s probably more differences between Lars and Manson than similarities. Lars is really a struggling musician and an introvert. Manson is an extrovert with a larger than life personality. But the similarity is that they both wield a super-sexual power over women (and men) both on and off stage.
-Is Lars really a Samurai? I can’t imagine Manson with a suit of Samurai trying to fight with a sword ^^
Yes, he’s a Samurai but no he doesn’t wear a ‘suit’ he wears leather pants LOL.
-Was there any hesitation to make the film?
Absolutely not, once I write something I intend to make it. It’s become part of me.
-Is it true that Marilyn Manson is going to form a new band, record an album and tour all around the world, to promote Splatter Sisters?
It is true and it will happen.
-Which talent(s) is Marilyn Manson going to incorporate into the movie?
Music, acting, some design consulting I hope cause he’s a great visual artist, etc.
-Will the production began soon?
Yes, quite soon.
