That fear is all in your head, in this industry people will take you as seriously as you take yourself. I just hired a girl fresh out of film school to assistant edit Basedworld and she did a great job. She is probably your exact same age, and that job led to another job which leads to another, etc. Just put yourself out there and do good work when you get the chance. And feel free to ask people (including me) for help or advice any time.
