Violent crime in the United States is actually statistically flat per capita. It’s the perception of it which has accelerated to enormous proportions, only because the media can make money selling it. And it’s worked, to the degree that polls show that violent crime is the number one concern of the voter - so you get more of a law-and-order society promised. Basically, more fascism is what you get: more cops, more prison, more oppression. Fear is the future.
